Dying to live

Georgia’s winter was colder than usual and it even snowed several times!! We look out our windows now to see the blossoms and leaf buds showing on the trees while they “wake-up”
(as our 3yr old grandson puts it:).
After a cold winter the warmth of the sun returns and nature comes alive. Jodi and I are reminded of what transpires when we let the Son, Jesus Christ, into our personal winters.

GA spring

Romans 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life. (NET Bible)

In order for the trees and plants to experience the new life of spring they must let their
old leaves and flowers die.

Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sin which per God’s Judgment is death.
I can now live forever if I choose to die to myself daily and surrender my will to Jesus’ leading.
My old life must die.

This new life is freely mine. It only cost me everything.
